As a company that routinely handles hazardous materials, Desco is committed to safeguarding the welfare of its employees and customers. That’s why we have gone through the extensive and necessary process of becoming ISO 45001-certified.
That process and the resulting certification means that we comply with the international standard for occupational health and safety (OHS). The purpose is to protect our employees and visitors to our sites from work-related accidents and diseases.
The goal of ISO 45001 is to help businesses provide a healthy and safe environment for employees and everyone else who may visit the workplace. This is achieved by controlling any factors that could potentially lead to injury, illness and — in extreme situations — even death. The standard is concerned with mitigating any and all factors that are harmful or that pose a danger to workers’ physical and/or mental well-being.
ISO 45001 represents a landmark in the discipline because it offers a single framework with a clear pathway to developing better, more robust OHS measures.
