In line with its commitment to finding solutions for problem fractions, Desco Electronic Recyclers has expanded its service offering to now include the recovery and re-purposing of refrigerant gases. This has been enabled through a partnership with A-Gas South Africa, a leading player in the recovery and supply of gases and related products.
This is a major step forward for the local recycling industry because it will assist in ensuring that refrigerant gases contained in scrapped appliances as well as the heels (residual quantity of refrigerant which remains in disposable cylinders) from disposable cylinders are not released into the atmosphere. Instead, the gases are recovered and reclaimed in an environmentally responsible manner, thus furthering our Goal and Vision for sustainability and environmental responsibility assisting Desco’s cradle-to-cradle philosophy.
Desco is committed to recovering and reclaiming the maximum amount of recyclable material when equipment reaches its end of life, and to record that on a Reclamation Certificate issued upon completion of the process.
A-Gas is a world class leader in the supply of refrigerants, offering an extensive range of supplementary products and services. For many years A-Gas focused on supporting a cradle to grave philosophy, actively promoting the recovery and re-purposing of refrigerants. This focus is central to environmental themes such as the circular economy and environmentally friendly alternatives.
Combined with Desco Electronics Recyclers World Class Services this ground-breaking partnership will pioneer, shape, steer and strengthen the E-waste sector and impact the industry positively for many years to come.
The partnership enables Desco to recover gas from large white goods, which includes, but is not limited to, domestic and commercial refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, medical equipment, and HVAC systems. Older models of these products may contain Hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC) and Hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) gases, which are detrimental to the ozone layer.
Join Desco in striving to achieve this by recycling all products that may contain HCFC and/or HFC gases by contacting us on 011 979 3017 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule a collection or by dropping it off at our facility.
